Colne represented in ‘winner of winners’ regional competition
Three successful teenage competitors will represent Colne Luther Greenwood Memorial Festival in a ‘winner of winners’ regional competition.
They will be aiming to emulate the success of Clara Burnie who won the £100 first prize in dance in 2015 representing Colne at the bi-annual North West regional championships organised by the British and International Federation of Festivals.
Once again, hopefuls from all over the North West will compete in music, speech and dance at St Leonard’s Church, Penwortham, near Preston, on September 16, for trophies and cash prizes plus the honour being named ‘best in the North West.’
Rebecca Taylor, from the Ribble Valley, is our competitor in dance, having won four firsts in this year’s Spring dance festival at The Muni, Colne.
The music competition is now in two sections – vocal and instrumental – and our representatives are singer Joe Renshaw, from Colne, and pianist Bethany Zajac, from Shipley, Yorks, who both won firsts in the music competitions at Colne at the end of November 2016.
Our festival aims to encourage young talent in the field of performance, and we wish all three the very best in their efforts.
